AOA Distinguished Clinician Educator Award
Candidate Criteria

Candidates must be US or Canadian orthopaedic surgeons. 
Examples of qualifying criteria may include (this list is neither exhaustive nor prioritized):

  • Received teacher of the year award or equivelant from residency program, medical school, university or society
  • Held leadership positions in national organizations with a focus on education
  • Chaired educational committees
  • Acted as a mentor to other orthopaedists locally or nationally
  • Served as a peer reviewer of educational articles for journals and/or served on the editorial board for journals, including the JBJS
  • Pursued further training in education through courses, workshops or faculty development programs or participated in an educational fellowship program
  • Achieved a sustained record of significant scholarly activity
  • Has authored original books, papers, chapters related to clinical practice
  • Promotion and tenure in clinical/educator tract
  • Developed 'centers of excellence,' signature programs
