Fellowship Match

The Fellowship Match has been a clear example of successful AOA leadership in an issue critical to the orthopaedic profession. The American Orthopaedic Association has catalyzed an effort which has now gained momentum with those groups who can truly develop and enforce a match process. While AOA members have and will continue to play leadership roles in seeing the fellowship match through, the operational issues related to match development and enforcement are now largely in the hands of those groups who can best leverage a match for success. The AOA’s goals in this project have been realized – it has demonstrated leadership on this issue, it has brokered interest and agreement on the principles of a fellowship match, and it has engaged those groups with the authority to enforce a match to actively pursue the project.
