Dr. Scherl graduated magna cum laude from the Boston University Six Year Medical Program. She completed an Orthopaedic Residency at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, NY.
Dr. Scherl completed a pediatric orthopaedic fellowship at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, OH. She served as Assistant Professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Chicago.
Dr. Scherl has chaired the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society's Mentorship Committee (March 2002-March 2005), the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America's Bylaw Committee (June 2002-June 2003) and the Trauma and Prevention Committee (June 2005-June 2006). She is the program chair-elect for the upcoming POSNA Specialty Day at the Academy's 2011 annual meeting.
Dr. Scherl has published numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters. She has served as editor for several textbooks.

Dr. Steinmann received his B.A. from Columbia University and his M.D. degree from Cornell University.
Dr. Steinmann completed an orthopedic residency and shoulder fellowship at Columbia, and a hand fellowship at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. Before coming to Mayo Clinic, he was Director of the Upper Extremity Service at National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD. He completed two 3-month Traveling Fellowships in Microsurgery –one at Siriraj Hospital, the other at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Steinmann has held leadership positions in the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, as well as other national organizations. He has published numerous articles and is a nationally and internationally recognized shoulder and elbow surgeon.
