AOA-OREF-Zimmer Resident Leadership Forum
June 3-4, 2008
Hilton Québec
Québec City, Québec

The AOA-OREF-Zimmer Resident Leadership Forum identifies PGY4 residents as young orthopaedic leaders by recognizing their accomplishments to-date and by giving them an opportunity to further develop their leadership skills. This two-day event introduces the concept of leadership to young orthopaedists and asks them to think critically about leadership and how they can apply it to the specialty. The Forum will not focus on paper presentations; rather, it will focus on leadership development and peer-to-peer and resident-to-leader interaction. Attendees leave the course with a new sense of responsibility to the orthopaedic community and access to a Community of Leaders.

The forum will be held June 3-4, 2008, in conjunction with the AOA/COA Combined Annual Meeting in Québec City. By overlapping the Forum with the AOA's Annual Meeting, residents will get a taste of what's to come, as they begin their leadership role in orthopaedics. Residents are included in AOA activities and are able to meet with orthopaedic leaders at both professional and social events.

Department chairs and/or program directors are charged to take advantage of their unique position to identify the future leaders of the specialty by selecting a single resident from their program to attend the Forum. The resident can complete the application, however the chairman/director is asked to submit the application

Residents return to their programs with a new understanding of what it means to be an orthopaedic leader and are poised to take a leadership role in year-five of their residency.
