AOA~Kellogg Leadership Series The AOA~Kellogg Leadership Series is designed to empower and amplify the skills of orthopaedic surgeons by providing the tools and resources needed to lead more effectively. The course brings the critical issues of leadership to the forefront of consideration and offers real-life solutions to overcoming challenges in orthopaedics and beyond. Series participants exchange and examine knowledge and experiences, applying lesions learned to their personal, professional and civic endeavors. More information.
AOA Leadership Fellowships The American Orthopaedic Association’s Leadership Fellowships are designed to recognize young leaders for their early contributions to orthopaedics by identifying and promoting their leadership skills to the broader orthopaedic community. The tours are structured to develop the fellow’s leadership skills and leadership networks through interactions and experiences with the world’s orthopaedic leaders and previous AOA fellows. These experiences prepare the fellows for the greater challenges of leading and improving the specialty by confronting critical issues impacting the specialty. Alumni of AOA Leadership Fellowships have access to a Community of Leaders that share similar aspirations for leadership. Leadership Fellowship Alumni share experiences and knowledge as they grow their careers and contribute to the specialty of orthopaedics. More information.
AOA Annual Meeting The AOA Annual Meeting provides an opportunity for AOA members to come together to discuss, debate and disseminate information regarding orthopaedics for the purpose of setting the direction of the specialty. The AOA’s Annual Meeting provides a venue for members to engage themselves in the issues facing the specialty of orthopaedics; shared thoughts and experiences offer AOA members an opportunity to enhance their personal knowledge and skill base for the benefit of the specialty. Resident Leadership Forum The AOA-OREF Resident Leadership Forum identifies young orthopaedic leaders by recognizing their accomplishments to-date and by giving them an opportunity to further develop their leadership skills. This two day event introduces the concept of leadership to young orthopaedists and asks them to think critically about leadership and how they can apply it to the specialty. Attendees leave the course with a new sense of responsibility to the orthopaedic community and access to a Community of Leaders.
Emerging Leaders Program The AOA’s Emerging Leaders Program is designed to identify young orthopaedists who are poised make an impact on the specialty and encourage them to develop their leadership skills. The ELP gives participants a glimpse of the value of AOA membership and offers them an opportunity to interact with orthopaedic leaders. Participants are asked to engage themselves in AOA programs and their Emerging Leaders community, preparing themselves to confront issues facing the specialty. More information.
AOA Awards The American Orthopaedic Association offers awards to recognize an individual’s personal achievement and broad contribution to orthopaedics. Awards are given to individuals who effectively confront issues or challenges facing the specialty. Award winners are recognized as role models for the orthopaedic community. AOA awards include the AOA Distinguished Clinician Educator Award, the AOA Award for Distinguished Contribution to Orthopaedics and the Alfred R. Shand’s Award (also supported by OREF). AOA News AOA News is a quarterly publication that informs members about the events of their organization. The newsletter includes a personal message from the association’s president, insightful articles about the goings-on of the AOA and calendars promoting upcoming events. View past issues.
