Jewel of Office

In 1952,at the 2nd Combined Meeting of Orthopaedic Associations held in London, Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, addressed the registrants.

To each of the Presidents of the Associations, Her Majesty presented the Jewels of Office - each one appropriately designed for its individual Association.

Active Presidents of each Association continue to wear the Jewels of Office at Annual Meetings and various ceremonies.

The jewel was a gift of the Fellows and Members of the BOA. It was the expressed desire of the donors that the jewel of office be worn at our official gatherings as a reminder of the comradeship and mutual aims and ambitions of the Orthopaedic Associations of the English-speaking World.
