ELP Guides Available in October!

Your ELP Guide will be assigned to you in October; the introduction will initially take place through email. Your Guide will serve as a resource regarding AOA activities, programs and services, upcoming opportunities for involvement within the AOA and to better understand the AOA as a whole.

During AOA events, such as the Annual Meeting, your Guide will facilitate introductions to AOA members and help you understand the full spectrum of opportunities and responsibilities that AOA members undertake when being accepted into membership. Your Guide will be responsible for passing pertinent information regarding AOA activities and will be available to answer questions regarding the programs.

The AOA encourages you to take full advantage of your time with your Guide. Your Guide was chosen because he/she is committed to the future of orthopaedics and strongly believes in the Emerging Leaders Program. In return, the AOA asks that you to continue to use your Guide as a resource for questions and information, and to engage yourself in AOA activities as much as possible.

Your Guide is looking forward to a positive and beneficial experience with you!

AOA~Kellogg Leadership Series - Take Advantage Today!

As you embark into the crucial phases of your orthopaedic career, it is pertinent to acquire the leadership skills necessary to become a successful orthopaedic leader. The AOA~Kellogg Leadership Series is designed to help you do exactly this.

The AOA~Kellogg Leadership Series brings leadership to the forefront of consideration. Modules are designed to empower and amplify the skills of orthopaedic surgeons by providing the tools and resources needed to lead more effectively. The engaging, dynamic and interactive modules provide the context for leadership in the lives of orthopaedists, regardless of career status.

"This course is invaluable to orthopaedic leaders and those who aspire to be leaders. The real-world knowledge and applications presented by the Kellogg faculty was excellent - they walk the walk and talk the talk," said Jacksonville, FL, Orthopaedic Surgeon B. Hudson Berrey, MD.

"The AOA~Kellogg Leadership Series should be taken by orthopaedic surgeons who realize, like me, that they are in need of training in the basic principles of leadership and management. The experience was above and beyond my expectations," said Peter F. Armstrong, MD, FRCSC, FACS, FAAP, chief medical officer, Tampa, FL.

As your career takes off, you may be chosen for a role that you are capable of fulfilling, however your role could be even better served if you, a physician leader, better understood the context for leadership and how to make business decisions.
