Dear Dr. XXX,

Welcome to the February issue of the ELP online newsletter!  In addition to your ELP member-guide, this newsletter is also designed to serve as a resource, providing you with information about the current goings-on of the AOA.

The AOA is committed to shaping the future leaders of orthopaedics and will continue to provide you with the necessary tools and information that will help you become a leader in the specialty.

If you have any topics or idea suggestions that you would like the AOA to cover in the next issue of this newsletter, please email Nikki Reuter at reuter@aoassn.org.

*The ELP online newsletter is published quarterly.

Join Us at the 118th AOA Annual Meeting!

As an Emerging Leader, you are invited to attend the 118th AOA Annual Meeting held June 22-25, 2005, in Huntington Beach, CA!  As you know, the Emerging Leaders Program provides participants an opportunity to attend the members-only AOA Annual Meetings at a discounted rate.

Emerging Leaders are invited to interact with AOA members in an environment of focused learning and networking.  As an ELP attendee, you have the same opportunity as AOA members to come together and discuss, debate and disseminate information regarding orthopaedics for the purpose of setting the direction for the specialty. EL's will get a glimpse of how shared thoughts and experiences at the Annual Meeting offer AOA members an opportunity to enhance their personal knowledge and skill base for the benefit of the specialty.

In addition, there will be an Emerging Leader Program Reception for EL's and member-guides held Thursday, June 23, from 5 - 6:00 p.m.  EL's and guides will enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres among peers and established orthopaedic leaders.

To view the Preliminary Program or to register for the Annual Meeting at the discounted ELP rate, please visit the AOA Web site at http://cl.exct.net/?ffcd16-fe5d1574726605757210-fe23107672660774701478

We look forward to seeing you in Huntington Beach!

*Reminder - To maintain active status as an ELP, you must participate in an AOA activity every three years.

Member-Guides are Your Resource to the AOA

As you've learned, the Emerging Leaders Program offers many benefits, including access to an AOA member-guide.

Your previously assigned member-guide should be viewed as a resource who can help you understand the opportunities for involvement in the AOA. Your member-guide can facilitate introductions to AOA members at various AOA events, such as the upcoming 118th AOA Annual Meeting in June, and can help you understand the full spectrum of opportunities and responsibilities that AOA members undertake when being accepted into membership.

Your member-guide has volunteered to assist you because he/she is committed to the future of orthopaedics and believes in the AOA's Emerging Leaders Program. You should feel confident in taking advantage of this unique opportunity; you've been given unprecedented access to an orthopaedic leader.

The AOA strongly encourages you to take advantage of this unique program and continue to use your member-guide as a valuable resource regarding AOA activities and the opportunities for involvement.

For questions regarding the ELP, please contact AOA Headquarters at 847.318.7330 or at info@aoassn.org.

Emerging Leaders Program Survey to be Conducted

The AOA's Emerging Leaders Committee is currently creating a needs assessment and satisfaction survey for the Emerging Leaders Program.  The Emerging Leaders Committee feels that it is extremely important to communicate with Emerging Leaders in order to better assess their needs; as the consumer of this program, you are best positioned to weigh-in on the value of it and suggest improvements for the future.

The survey will be distributed electronically this Spring.  The AOA and the Emerging Leaders Committee asks that you participate in the survey by voicing your opinion to help shape the future of the Emerging Leaders Program.

The survey will be in email form and will be sent to all participants of the ELP.  The AOA and Emerging Leaders Committee look forward to your participation!
