Emerging Leaders Program

The AOA's Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) delivers a continuum of learning for developing orthopaedic leaders in their 5th year of residency up through their 8th year of clinical practice.

The essential skills garnered and relationships built within the ELP, provide a strong foundation for leadership development and success, furthering one's ability to give back to the specialty and society.

The ELP provides:

Identification for participation in the ELP is a mark of prestige. Those who join the ELP are among a highly select group of orthopaedists who are poised to impact the specialty now and in the future.

Apply or recommend an aspiring leader.

To apply, please e-mail ylc@aoassn.org the following to the AOA:

  • Complete an Emerging Leaders Program application
  • Your CV
  • A letter of recommendation from an AOA member, if necessary
  • Your headshot (tif or jpg file)

I believe the AOA is the orthopaedic organization best situated at promoting and developing orthopaedic surgeons leadership skills. This starts as early as residency with RLF, continues with the ELP and culminates in the many offerings for the members. I have participated in many of the Kellogg Leadership modules and other offerings and I know I can count on the AOA to excel in this area and take a role in orthopaedics that other subspecialty societies cannot.
