AOA Pillars of the Orthopaedic Profession
There are many orthopaedic surgeons, past and present, who have demonstrated exemplary leadership throughout their careers serving as role models and mentors. They are the ‘pillars’ who have advanced the orthopaedic profession through their dedication and leadership. A way to honor such individuals via the AOA is to serve as a “Champion” to initiate a group gift with those whom the ‘pillar’ has mentored or otherwise impacted in a positive or meaningful way.
Throughout their careers as clinicians, educators, and researchers, these individuals have served as leaders, mentors, and role models to faculty, professional partners, fellows, and residents in the orthopaedic community. The AOA is proud to recognize and honor the following members as the AOA Pillars of the Orthopaedic Profession:
Mark B. Coventry, MD, FAOA
C. McCollister Evarts, MD, FAOA
Victor H. Frankel, MD, PhD, KNO, FAOA
Charles S. Neer, II, MD, FAOA
Charles A. Rockwood, Jr., MD, FAOA
Richard H. Rothman, MD, PhD, FAOA
Michael A. Simon, MD, FAOA
These individuals were recognized during the 2019 AOA Annual Leadership Meetings.
