About Morgan McCall, PhD
Morgan McCall, PhD is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Southern California (USC). As a faculty member in the Marshall School of Business, he taught in the MBA programs, worked with the Office of Executive Education in the design and delivery of executive programs, taught in the International Business Education and Research (IBEAR) program, and was (and is) affiliated with the Center for Effective Organizations. He spent a sabbatical year as Director, HR Labs, HR Strategy and Planning, Sun Microsystems. Prior to joining USC, Dr. McCall was Director of Research and a Senior Behavioral Scientist at the Center for Creative Leadership, where he led the development of the Looking Glass simulation and the creation of the Research Sponsors Program that supported his research on experience-driven leadership development.
Executive leadership, especially early identification, assessment, development, and derailment of executives, is the primary focus of Dr. McCall's research and writing. His most recent book, co-edited with Cynthia McCauley, is Using Experience to Develop Leadership Talent: How Organizations Leverage On-The-Job Development

. He received the Marion Gislason award for “Leadership in Executive Development” from the Executive Development Roundtable at Boston University, and was chosen by his peers for the Distinguished Professional Contributions Award from the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
An active speaker and consultant, Dr. McCall has worked with a variety of organizations including 3M, Boeing, Disney, Eaton, Genentech, Johnson & Johnson, Microsoft, Nordstrom, Procter & Gamble, Starbucks, State Farm, Toyota, and Weyerhaeuser. Recently he has worked with several medical organizations, including Cambia Health Solutions, California Physician Leadership Program, District Medical Group (Phoenix), Association of Program Directors in Colon and Rectal Surgery, and Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Keck School of Medicine of USC. In addition to presentations and workshops, he works with senior executives to develop corporate strategies and systems for developing leadership talent.
Dr. McCall received his BS from Yale University and earned his PhD from Cornell. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Society, the American Psychological Association, and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
