Symposium Submission Categories
Eligibility
- AOA Members and AOA Emerging Leaders can submit a symposium abstract to be considered for presentation at the AOA Annual Leadership Meeting.
- The Primary Contact & Symposium Moderator must be an AOA Member.
- If an AOA Member would like to identify an AOA Emerging Leader as a co-moderator, please contact the AOA at education@aoassn.org.
Topics
Symposium presentations should be controversial, engaging, timely, and impactful. Topics should address:
- Healthcare Operations/Systems Science
- Leadership Topics
- Orthopaedic Academics
- Orthopaedic Research/Innovation
- Orthopaedic Socioeconomic Issues/Healthcare Disparities
- Professionalism
Submission Guidelines
- Abstract content must include: Abstract Title, Moderator Summary, Moderator Introduction, Discussion Points and Presenter, and Learning Objectives.
- No fee is required for submission.

Topic
Symposium abstracts must address the 2026 Summer CORD Conference theme “Shaping Tomorrow’s Orthopaedic Workforce.”
Submission Guidelines
- Abstract content must include: Abstract Title, Moderator Summary, Moderator Introduction, Discussion Points and Presenter, and Learning Objectives.
- No fee is required for submission.
AOA Members, Emerging Leaders, and clinicians from Own the Bone-enrolled institutions are invited to submit an idea for the Virtual Own the Bone Symposium.
Submission Instructions
Please include the intended length of your presentation in your submission. Own the Bone symposium submissions should:
- Address a topic related to secondary fracture prevention, fragility fracture patient care, bone health evaluation and management, or bone health optimization of orthopaedic patients.
- Be appropriate for a mixed clinical audience, including MDs, RNs, PAs, and NPs with a range of experience in bone health.
- Provide institutional and clinician experiences, successes, and/or tips on setting up a bone health or osteoporosis program.
Eligibility
Moderators for Own the Bone Symposium must be an AOA member or affiliated with an Own the Bone-enrolled institution.
Poster Abstract Submission Information
Eligibility
- Both AOA Members and non-AOA Members can submit a poster abstract.
- However, the Primary Author must be an AOA Member, AOA Emerging Leader, AOA CORD Member, or AOA Own the Bone Member.
- Co-authors may be non-AOA members

Primary Author Responsibilities
Primary authors must accept the following responsibilities:
- Ensure all abstract content is accurate.
- Ensure the presenting author of the poster:
- Registers and attends the AOA Annual Meeting and/or Summer CORD Conference
- Completes delivery, setup and dismantling of poster materials at the meeting
- Attends the Poster Reception held during the AOA Annual Leadership Meeting
If the Primary Author fails to comply with the above responsibilities, the author will be sanctioned from submitting an abstract for the following year’s Annual Leadership Meetings & Summer CORD Conferences.
Submission Guidelines
- Abstract content must include: Abstract Title, Summary, Learning Objectives, Materials and Methods, Results, and Conclusion
- A non-refundable $30.00 (USD) processing fee (Posters only) is required for submission, payable online only.
Podium Presentations
- Top-rated Education poster submissions will be considered for podium presentation, which will include a short 5-minute talk by the author followed by a Q&A session at the Summer CORD Conference.
