Satellite Symposium: Guidelines

  • The company can only hold a satellite symposium that meets ACCME guidelines
  • The company is responsible for all arrangements (i.e. selecting/booking the site, arranging for food and beverage, AV, and other logistics), CME, faculty, etc.
  • The symposium must not be scheduled against any Annual Meeting educational programming or all-member events, such as a welcome reception or “Fun Night”
  • AOA is not responsible for “selling” the symposium. AOA, at company’s election, will send out a communication to membership at the supporting company’s expense, at a neutral mail house, and will have the communication about the course available at the meeting (i.e. the association will not directly provide membership contact information to the company)
  • AOA will provide signage at the meeting, in accordance with ACCME regulations (i.e., positioned to be near registration/away from the CME component of our meeting), indicating the company’s support level and details of symposium offering (time, place, etc.). No announcements can be made during the CME portion of the meeting
  • Satellite symposia can be communicated via a company-generated card for participants, but cannot be included in the program agenda or otherwise communicated as part of the annual meeting
  • Content needs to be approved, in advance of finalization, by the meeting’s Program Chair(s) and Executive Director
  • This opportunity is available only to two companies that support the meeting at a $50,000 level
  • Supporters have the option to offer a satellite symposium on a first come, first serve basis
